Innovations Lab

The Innovation Lab is a hands-on, future-focused learning space where students are encouraged to think creatively, solve problems and bring their ideas to life. At its core, the Innovation Lab is built around the Design Thinking process and informed by the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report, which highlights the skills employers are increasingly looking for in the workforce. These include analytical thinking, creative thinking, resilience, adaptability, leadership, teamwork and technology skills. Our goal is to help our students begin developing these capabilities early through hands-on, purposeful and creative learning experiences.

In the Innovation Lab, students learn to empathise, define, ideate, prototype, test and repeat. This process helps students understand problems, think about the needs of others, generate ideas, create solutions, test their thinking and make improvements. It teaches students that learning is not about getting everything right the first time. It is about being curious, reflective and willing to improve.

The space helps students develop future-focused skills such as analytical thinking, creative thinking, resilience, adaptability, leadership, teamwork and technology skills. These skills are made visible throughout the room and are embedded in the way students approach challenges, work with others and explain their design choices.

Students engage in a balance of hands-on and digital learning, using a range of tools and technologies to design, make, code, model, build, test and refine their ideas. Through these experiences, students develop confidence with technology, practical problem-solving skills and the ability to turn ideas into purposeful creations.

The Innovation Lab gives students a place to be curious, creative and brave with their thinking. It is a space where questions matter, mistakes become part of the process and ideas can grow into meaningful solutions. Most importantly, it helps students see themselves as designers, makers, coders, problem-solvers and future-ready learners.
