School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

At St Albans East Primary School we use the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support Framework (SWPBS) to create an environment where our students thrive with their social, emotional and academic learning.

The SWPBS framework is about:

•Proactive school-wide systems of supporting, defining and teaching appropriate students behaviours to create positive learning environments
•Creating and sustaining school-wide, classroom and individual systems of support
•Building effective environments in which positive behaviour is more effective than problem behaviour so that academic success can be achieved

Key attributes of SWPBS include:

•Preventative activities Data-based decision making
•Problem solving orientation

SWPBS is a framework with four-core, defining features:

Below is our school-wide Matrix of Expected Behaviour. This matrix clearly defines our expected behaviours which are explicitly taught, modelled and reinforced in every classroom and throughout the school.

Students who follow expected behaviour from our Matrix may receive a SAEPS Star Card to acknowledge their positive behaviour. Each week we have a raffle where students selected win a prize.

Below is our Behaviour Management Procedure which all SAEPS staff use when addressing minor and major behaviours.

At SAEPS our Bully Prevention Program is called ‘Expect Respect’ which is explicitly taught to all students in Grades P-2. Below are the routines we follow when addressing disrespectful behaviours.
